Platform Security
Data security within Blink Mobility Platform (BMP) can be separated into three main areas:
- User Authentication: User Authentication is the process of validating a user when logging in to an app running on the BMP.
- Data Transfer:Data transfer is the process of sending data to and from remote services.
- Data At Rest:Data at rest is instigated on the device via an offline mode, which is designed to allow users to continue working when no network coverage is available. For more information on offline mode, see "Data Suitcases' in the 202-Advanced Interactions Course). (You will need to complete the prequisites first).
Additional Security
For applications requiring a very high level of security, MDM solutions can also be incorporated onto the mobile device. MDM software secures, monitors, manages and supports mobile devices deployed across mobile operators, service providers and enterprises. MDM functionality typically includes over-the-air distribution of applications, data and configuration settings for all types of mobile devices.
Most newer mobile devices also allow the ability to remotely wipe stored data, whether it be via an MDM solution or built-in features to the device’s operating system. For issues such as malware, we highly recommend security-conscious business practices are put into place, such as not allowing “jail-broken” phones to be used in business, and also limiting the device to business use to reduce the possibilities of malware infection from 3rd party apps or websites.
