1.3 - Hero and Soldier Apps

Hero and soldier apps

Most organisations have already created an app or a couple of apps that are their main “touch points” with their customers.  These are usually major projects with large teams and big budgets - often driven by marketing departments - and are what we call “hero apps”.

A good example of a hero app would be a bank’s home banking application.  With a hero app it’s worth spending plenty of money on the single app since it’s going to be used by most of your customers.  A good one can give you market advantage.

However, to achieve wider organisational digital transformation you need to be able to create new solutions to support many more activities around the organisation.  These activity-oriented solutions we call “soldier apps”.  You’ll end up with an army of them, each suitable for a given type of activity.

A good example of a soldier app within the same bank might be an app to support agents who sell mortgages.  Smaller than the mass-market home banking app,  but still important and will dramatically improve customer service.  But you can’t spend as much money, time and care on each of your soldier apps because the payback will never be as much per app.

The BlinkMobile Platform is a great way to cost-effectively and quickly create and operate sophisticated, consumer-quality soldier apps that securely integrate into your existing host systems.

BlinkMobile addresses the Soldier App development challenge

BlinkMobile’s objective is to provide an “artists pallet” of valuable services and tools that allow systems integrators and end customer IT staff to easily engage with the raft of (often quite complex and difficult-to-use) technologies you need to employ to create these transformational solutions.  This set of services and tools is the BlinkMobile Platform.

In these courses you’ll see how straightforward it is to drive these services and how valuable it is to have access to almost everything you’ll need to build and deploy apps and APIs from a single log-in.
