Backups and Disaster Recovery

The BlinkMobile Platform offers robust backup and recovery capabilities.

Amazon’s Relational Database Service  (RDS) is set to automatically backup the platform on a continual basis, enabling point in time recovery. A full daily snapshot is taken, and then changes are logged as updates are made. When a restoration takes place, the most appropriate daily snapshot is used, and then the transaction logs are applied, bringing you up to date on the restoration time you specify.

Backups are taken automatically by the Blink Mobility Platform, and so no action needs to be taken by you or your organisation. Restorations are handled by Blink Mobile as part of the platform service.

Development environments can be kept as a copy of production, however the Production environment features Multi-AZ deployment . Multi-AZ, or Multi Availability Zones, mean your data is transparently replicated across multiple zones which are physically separate to each other. In the case of uncommon disasters such as floods or fires, the system will automatically switch to another Availability Zone.

The Blink Mobility Platform infrastructure is monitored by Blink Mobile as part of the platform offer by using CloudWatch  and other tools. CloudWatch allows Blink Mobile to monitor the use of all cloud resources and metrics, as well as automatically trigger scaling when needed.
